The FarawayA Poem by OneAmongstManyThe Faraway What I saw was radiant beauty Of smooth and perfect golden sands That colour would change in times of sunset To a humble pink, almost too ashamed to be adored Its surface reflected the changing light Yet its fair refinement grew in spite What I saw were icy lakes And how I longed to break their surface To delve where no one ever journeyed Into the depths of apperception and all-knowing And yet I could not crack the exterior I waded on through lakes inferior What I saw were branches thin They danced and twisted in the breeze Their golden leaves called out to me Such transcendent melody; I felt unworthy Their gleam and glow were overwhelming My fascination deep, unending What I saw were dreams of dreams “Such a place does not exist! What you see you cannot reach” What I sought was swift dismissed Their words were true, I knew that so Yet as I fool, I let hope grow. But no matter: come the sunrise We set sail again, the fruitless reprise. © 2017 OneAmongstManyReviews
