Haunted Memories

Haunted Memories

A Poem by Kristen R. Heyl

It will hound me until I go to my grave

and possibly die with me.

True love can be found

it’s just a matter of where and when

it will reveal itself.

Timing is not always ideal

nor is true love always easy to recognize.

It disguises itself as something

your heart rejects and only after

do you realize you missed

the opportunity of a lifetime.

You can try and recapture the moment

but many times the moment has disappeared

and won’t resurface until you least expect it.

Once, twice, and three times missed you’re out of luck.

Looking for love is like

looking for the proverbial needle

ln a haystack

but letting it find you is the surest way

to guarantee you will recognize true love.
