Golden DreamsA Poem by Kristen R. HeylEver wonder about your childhood dreams?
A little girl’s dreams are spun of gold and as strong as a piece of braided rope. She grows and enters adolescence, where the golden dreams that haven’t come true yet lose a little of their power for the innocence of childhood is wearing off and with that the belief in herself that anything is possible. She has reached adulthood, and those leftover golden dreams have had several oceans of tears shed over them and have become as delicate as a spider’s web fresh with morning dew. The reason these dreams have become so fragile is that she has become corrupted with the pessimism and hopelessness of adulthood and it gets harder by the day to believe One day during adulthood she will find someone who will remind her that life isn’t as bad as it seems and that her dreams can be realized and optimism and hope will then return to her life drying out the tears on her golden web.
