museA Poem by Megan Doeden
When you are a writer, you are often asked,
"When do you do your best writing?" This answer may come easy for many. Some may say in the morning while drinking coffee and the sun is shining. Or when sitting by the fireplace on a late winter's night. But for some it is a challenging question, where writing comes best with inconvenience. While in the shower, humming the notes of a jazz song, or when driving on a narrow country road with the music turned up loud. For me, my answer is simple, with a few added details. I write best when i'm with you. at times that comes as an inconvenience, sometimes words fail to express why. It comes to me when I am buried in your chest, while the rain trickles down the window pane. Appearing when I trace your jawline with my finger, and run my hands down your torso. Sincerity becomes pure when your heart beats to the rhythm of my fingertips. Pouring out beneath your breath. I feel the syllables rise in my throat, while i slowly fade in and out with your arms wrapped around me. I close my eyes feeling like one of the most genius poets, entangled with her muse, feeding into the hopeless romantic. drinking from the nectar of love. dining on the next forbidden moment.
