save us.

save us.

A Poem by Megan Doeden

When I think
about you,
I lose sight
of reality.
everything and
everyone
around me
turns into
nothing.
the water
stands still.
the birds
freeze
in place,
the trees
settle,
my body
stays still.
my hands
go numb,
my toes
start to
tingle.
it all goes
black.
my heart
cries for
you.
screaming
for just
one more
touch.
but it is
silenced by
the ringing
in my ears,
and the
knot in my
stomach.
i forget
how to
breathe.
i go through
the motions,
yet end up
no where.
i'm frozen
in time.
you were
able to
save
yourself.
save me,
too.
