Where The Ants LiveA Poem by Megan DoedenI'll walk silently beside you. Holding your hand tightly, I'll find that hole where the ants live. Poke at them with a stick, and cover it up with with dirt. Just like we did when we were kids. I'll walk you home with a smile on my face, while inside my heart is racing. We'll walk past that house where memories were made. I will kiss you with my eyes closed, but it's light enough to see your face. I've found that, deep inside a person, it's not hard to love, but hard to trust. The only way to trust is to forgive and forget and without that it's just a hole. Needing to be patched up, Just like where the ants live. Just like when we were kids. © 2016 Megan Doeden |
