Where The Ants Live

Where The Ants Live

A Poem by Megan Doeden

I'll walk silently beside you.

Holding your hand tightly,
not letting go.

I'll find that hole where the ants live.

Poke at them with a stick,

and cover it up with with dirt.

Just like we did when we were kids.

I'll walk you home with a smile on my face,

while inside my heart is racing.

We'll walk past that house where memories were made.

I will kiss you with my eyes closed,

but it's light enough to see your face.

I've found that, deep inside a person, it's not hard

to love, but hard to trust.

The only way to trust is to forgive and forget

and without that it's just a hole.

Needing to be patched up,

Just like where the ants live.

Just like when we were kids.

Wow. Very nice piece...to forgive and forget is indeed the first step towards patching that hole.
I really enjoy this write.
