The Wanderer IA Poem by OnceUponAMelodyThe first installment in what will eventually be a series of poems following a man through the different environments of nature.
There is not one light in here
The shadows have me restrained My nightmares haunted by what the darkness contains Silence is all that I hear The heavy armor of locked doors makes clear That no matter where the remnants of my will may lead The darkness will not bleed There is not one light in here Lady Time breathes without me My once-upon-a-time-lover, with no outstretched hand, Caught on that I am but a feeble man And onward lives her life in ease I feel in my old bones one last wish: to leave To escape the decadence of a life no more And instead indulge in the decadence of the world and explore Observe the seasons' changes and the reactions of the leaves I find myself in hesitation, in fear In a place too tragic to spend my life's end So let be what may be, I shall defend There is not one light in here © 2011 OnceUponAMelodyAuthor's Note
