Bitter-Sweet DreamsA Poem by Lloyd Frieson-SmallOne of my romantic poems. Very introspective and mysterious to the "outsider". Enjoy. My vision of perfection was never so broad... She was my release; My every emotion... She preferred a slight smile to kind words, and always looked into my eyes for the truth... Her idea of soulful music was my own heartbeat, though I had only enough time to say what it was that I really felt... She took me by the wrist, and led me to a place of peace. A place where we could forget the world for a short while, where there was no sound and my own sense of time faded from my mind. I sat with her, as we waited for the day that never quite came... I remember the overwhelming sense of freedom and fear as she took my frozen hand in hers, and placed it on her own heart. "This is how you know..", she whispered to me, staring into my eyes with a look of expectation and curiosity... She possessed an other-worldly beauty, one reserved especially for those of us who are cursed with the gift of sight beyond sight. I will never forget those days, when we would escape the tyranny of the world at high noon, and travel back through time and space to rejoin them at night... I remember... All too well... Blessed with these memories of true love in an unfamiliar place, I remain... Looking out at the world through broken glass, silently calling for the one who found solace in my heart of stone.... Find me... Save me...
