A Poem by Lloyd Frieson-Small
"

Another from my first Chapbook. More introductory, I'd like to think.

"
Sitting as an honored guest in my own mind. Reminiscing famous quotes of ancient scholars, trying to illustrate the power of the unspoken word with fleeting, fragmented reason. So often do I come across the words I seek only to have them disassemble and venture off into the hazy depths of the subconscious self.

I struggle to recollect the perfect sequence of thoughtless knowledge to bring forth and immortalize my passion within a form of art that can only be truly appreciated with the mind's eye. Everyday I see people going about the course of their daily agenda with diligent, determined stares, seemingly oblivious to their surroundings. I wonder how many people are truly happy.

How many have settled for what was available, and tossed away their hopes and dreams? Those powered by pain, and those who have found a sense of inner peace; how do they differ? Is there any sense of passion in what they've achieved? Or are they living out their lives in sorrow, despising their existence?

I tell tales of courageous feats and untainted love with the intent to evoke an overwhelming emotion most have never thought possible; so who really understands the artist's illusions? Who has seen countless nights of restlessness? Fighting within himself, desperate to contain the raw power of the unspoken word.

The power of creation in my hand, a vision of love in my mind, unabridged wisdom passed down for millenia, allowing me to translate raw passion into an art form that is slowly fading. I could tame the world with a pen...

I like reading the ancient readers. Dryden, Milton and Jack London were amazing storytellers. The more modern writers like Hemingway, Kosinski, King and Nevil Shute made reader more historic. I often use the quotes of the great writers. I enjoyed your thoughts on writing. Writing is a lifetime goal. We learn from living and being part of this world. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on my favorite subject. If you have time. Check out my poem "Posey"
