Relinquished

Relinquished

A Poem by Lloyd Frieson-Small
"

From my first Chapbook. Inspirational, and insightful.

"
Look for me on the horizon, dear love. For on that day, when you stand alone looking out at the world with a new-found affinity for life; and all your fears and worries and the feelings of loneliness have fallen from your shoulders, you will find me. When the sky opens its arms to you, leaving all but shaded-gray thunderheads and scattered rains that brought you back to a time when you looked up and wondered if GOD himself was shedding those same tears, "I was there too, but never would I remain. For time, relentless as it was and will always be, pressed on, even into the dead of night... And so shall I..." Where there was complacency, certainty has taken form. The scars of battles fought silently before the eyes of millions, begin to fade in the light of the mid-day sun... Relinquish the double-edged sword, your heart is no longer its sheath. Your armor, fashioned of old, broken steel, handed down through the ages, has served its purpose; for hope still lives within. Let it break from your breast and fall back unto the earth as golden sand. You will have earned your place among peace... There you will find me waiting....

The above lines were my favorite. I like how you use the language. Giving life and thoughts using the less amount of words. It is good when we can relinquished places and find some kind of peace. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
