Prologue

The following short letter, carved in the hull of a probe was found during an excavation in southern Atrocia during the year 1086:

If you are one of the last of your kind or the existence of your kind is in danger, you must decide whether the survival of one’s self or the survival of one’s people matters most. When pointless wars have ravaged your entire world and one man’s villainy is felt around the galaxy, it is unfortunate. When one man brings hope and light into a world overshadowed by nightmares and fear, it is glorious. – Ark de Ages

The letter was a warning of the past, present and future. The Atrocians had not been the first to read this letter. They would not be the last. Instead, they would continue the chain of ignorance, which had been created by those who existed before them. They would ignore this warning. They would ignore the truth.

In 1087 the Great War began...

Author's Note

OnEternity
I made the prologue short, because i do not like long prologues. I wanted the reader to jump right into the main story without delay. I attempted to make the prologue, make you question what will happen next, but without writing twenty pages.

It definitely catches one's attention. I very much want to read the book. Although (and I am playing devils advocate) sometimes a longer prologue is great, because it lets you know more about the world, and often fills in nicely for a back story, without all those annoying flash backs.

I can't wait to read the rest of your novel. And I like how you made the prologue short. Now I really want to know what will happen next.
