Withdrawals

Withdrawals

A Poem by Omily

I don't need any mind altering chemicals

To enhance the experience

Of being with you.

I get that kind of high

That comes with

Obsessive infatuation,

A stone wall face plant love

Like I sprinted into you,

And once I fell,

Getting up

Was a sensational conception.

And when I am without you

Withdrawals simmer

Like a synthetic headache

And I need something

To subside the pangs

Of a heart dented from distance.

And when I take a hit

And the smoke pours from my lips

Like an airborne stream

I wonder how nature deems it possible

For me to become so dependent

When you are happier alone.
