If I Fall

If I Fall

A Poem by Omily
"

A poem.

"

I realized all at once how much I exposed

And it knocked the wind out of me

Like a punch to the gut--

Mortified when I glimpsed the piling truths

Like the weight of the world

I emptied in front

Of your balance beam hands

And I understand

It is at your discretion

To drop it

Drop me

With the close of a jaw;

Now, I am in awe

Of how much I could lose,

Lose it all,

All at once,

If I fall.
