Abolitionist

Abolitionist

A Poem by Omily

My bondage is untied

And I lay in the spotless sunshine

Of unrestrained heart-

It's a lie- I squeezed lime

Into my eyes.

I deny it

In part, because of the pride

I wish I had

In part, because of nature

And my nesting instincts

To find someone in sync

With my off brand of mystique

And tongue in cheek

Attitude

About past lovers passing

Onto chance passerbys.

Damn all these lies

Of lonely independence

I want that rare connection

And strength through co-dependence

And beauty in resurrection;

Lift the smashed pieces of my

"Unrestrained," bound, and broken heart

Create anew a whole of its parts

And I'll be free

With you

To embrace ascension,

You have the gift of emancipation.

There's some very intense images and language at work here. It reads smoothly, very well done.
