Second Story Window

Second Story Window

A Poem by Omily

Today, I look out from an elevated window

And the world is a model, an anachronism

Inaccurate and laughable and odd

But I open my heart, and feel, and it's raw,

Surging with breath and hallowed life fire

And fresh air and always transpiring

A vibrating, passing laugh

As it takes note of the

Dog barking and barking at nothing at all

Because we all bark and all

Barking is insignificant

And deserves ridiculing. Proclaim to me, I am

A secret keeper

But soon I’ll have to open my eyes,

Abandoning this baptizing

That was more meaningful

Than my clutter and babble and windows

And everything self loving-

Until I fall.
