Sailing to Slumberland

Sailing to Slumberland

A Poem by Omily

I am a stiff plank

Sailing to slumberland

Caught in a riptide

Clasping my eyes shut

With too much exertion

Too much to touch slumberland-

Through this scarring glass

Lashing from the violent waves

Broken from a box labeled

“Anxiety”

Fluttering in my skull like butterflies

Biting at my brain like tarantulas

I clutch my plastic booklight

Like a rapier

You insatiable rapist

Ravishing my immobile, conscious body

Beached on your island

In the purgatory of sleep

Wishing you would let me touch

A dream.
