Dying Flame

Dying Flame

A Chapter by Omikron

The intensity is what ignited us -
It's what fed the flame.
Fiercely, like a wildfire, it burned,
A lively, brilliant beacon in the dark.
Then came the trembling flicker,
Fiercely, the flame suffocated.
It was inevitable, evident as day,
I saw it coming from miles away.
And still, I found myself weeping
For the tragic, imminent fate,
Of that fading, dying light,
Desperately clinging on to the wick,
Ravenous and longing to burn -
As darkness enveloped the flame,
With the very intensity that once
Ignited us.
