Brittle Bonds

Brittle Bonds

A Poem by Omikron

It is with a leaden heart
And a silent tear
I touch our brittle bond
That I once praised for its strength
And now I watch it tear
Watch it crumble.

I couldn't fathom
The weight of bad encounters
Nor the deceitful lightness of good ones
Despite all my efforts, poems
Dedications in your honor
One mishap seems enough
For you to drift away.

The bond we had
A mother and daughter
Was enough to move mountains
Raise skyscrapers
Create suns
Create moons.

Now it is with a leaden heart
And a silent tear
I watch it all wither away
Like a spring flower
Tiny and delicate
and brittle.
