To FearA Poem by OmikronThere is a girl Hiding inside my rib cage Blushed cheeks and golden curls She sees the world, and feels it Adores it and equally fears it Locked up and contained She twists her curls, and screeches "It is my world, I want to see it!" And I will show you girl, I will So tell me, which is worse To fear your neighbour, for he might strike you To fear the crevices of the world, for they might break you To fear trust and friendship, for it might abandon you To fear the dawn of tomorrow, for it might fool you To fear this bloody virus, for it might kill you Or To fear your neighbour, though he wishes you joy To fear the crevices of the world, and never uncover its secrets To fear trust and friendship, and never laugh in canon To fear the dawn of tomorrow, and never watch the sun awake To fear this bloody virus, and never try to conquer it Tell me girl, what do you hide In your golden curls that you twist Is it fear or courage that feeds you Because what can I teach you When it is you that is the seed From which I have grown And become a fearful, courageous woman.
