To My MotherA Poem by Omegax45A sad poem about a child's love for their mother and their struggles to be worthy of that love. Made for Sadness ContestTo
My Mother by
omegax45 To
my mother You
are the world to me You
were the first person to believe in me To
encourage me To
always have my back I
am so sorry that I wasn’t what you expected of me You
told me it wasn’t my fault You
blame yourself for it But
it never will be your fault The
fault is mine I
didn’t stand up for myself enough I
quit when things became too tough and I ran out of options My
disabilities are no excuses You
did all you could with what we had Sometimes
love and support are not enough I
wanted so much to pay you back Mother I
wanted to give you so much But
it always felt so short, so pathetic When
others can give you more than I could I
hate myself for that I
wish I could’ve made your life better I
wish I had been more determined against all odds I
wish I could’ve been like your other children But
I can only be me and you accepted me It
made me happy But
I hurt you Mother I
made you cry I
was frustrated with myself I
wish I could take the words back But
once said cannot be unsaid And
so I must leave you Mother Not
to the afterlife as you may fear But
to go live on my own To
learn on my own To
fight on my own I
love you Mother and I’m so sorry But
I don’t love myself I
have to learn how to love myself and to find my own success And
when I do I
will come home © 2022 Omegax45Author's Note
