As Night Falls...

As Night Falls...

A Poem by Michael Jewel
"

A long day, a short night.

"

As night falls I remember,

I remember the past,

I remember the far past,

I remember the furthest past,

I regret the wrong days,

I admire the strong days,

Often, so often, there's no difference,

No truth, no lies,

Every life, everyone dies,

This I know, this I flee from,

From this I grow, from this I know,

As night falls, the day has grown short,

As night falls, I am filled with remorse,

And as night falls, I long for the day,

Where I can say "hello",

Yet, as we know,

Kindness doesn't pay...

It's been a long night, & my mind is unfocused, along with my vision.

I love your diction and repetitiveness in this piece. It flows beautifully. Almost like a haunting lullaby.

This is a sad write...upon reading your Author's note, I realize that much more. When vision is lost, it seems all the lights have been extinguished. I find much truth in this piece, but the last line I find contradicts so much...for kindness does pay-- but alas, you aren't feeling it, so the remorse plays out in this saddening poem. You expressed this one very well. I pray your vision returns, as I look forward to a write by you where the sun does shine. ;)

I want to keep this a favorite.. So I have to say something.. But I dont really know what to say, except thats such a common sad fact sometimes.. That kindness doesnt pay. But maybe it will eventually, it has to eventually.
