Life As I Know It

Life As I Know It

A Poem by Olumegbon
"

Things never happen the way we want it but we still keep pushing, it's just the world we are in.

"
Vanity is enticing,
True goals dies within,
Crossed path with a damsel,
A relationship meant to excel,
Little did I know it was a shortcut to hell,
Regardless of all the years,
There's still no love story to tell,
I shared bread with a friend,
Dreamt of money on the same bed,
We switched tales of our pains with hope for a better end,
Shortly we became strangers who wished each other dead,
I chased a struggle for so long,
Sleepless nights but the results were still wrong,
I still stayed strong,
Till I watched my struggle pay others more,
Life has been unfair,
Especially when the little hope is not even clear,
Everything I've wanted,
Backfired in ways I never expected,
But am I to give up,
When this soul only lives once.

I have also questioned my life several times. Why for some doing the same thing has been so easy and for me it was like me Vs the whole universe. May be we are not doing the things we are supposed to be doing...and finding answer to that question is the real job.

Thanks so much
Giving up is never an option... As you said, This soul only lives once... So keep trying until life itself leaves you.... And when you will give fair tries to life, it will revert you with its fair results...

A very strong piece of poem with a strong message... I liked reading it.... :) :)

Thanks for the review
The world isn't going to stop for us, it will always keep moving. I don't know why but this kind of reminded me of the Walking Dead and how some people were skeptical of Maggie and Glenn for getting pregnant in a world like that, but if you think about it, the world is always going to be s****y, you just have to make the most of what you are given. I really enjoyed this. Thank you for sharing!

Nicely said, thanks so much for the review
We cannot give-up. We must go forward.
"Everything I've wanted,
Backfired in ways I never expected,
But am I to give up,
When this soul only lives once"
The above lines are true. It seem every time we catch-up. We had fell behind. Thank you for sharing your excellent poetry.

You are welcome my friend.
Never give up, there is luck even in the little things of life, and it's true: you only live once, you can only make the best of it. Well done. :) Rudi
