Loyalty That Betrays

Loyalty That Betrays

A Poem by Olumegbon
"

Anyone who's loyal today can be disloyal tomorrow

"
Does blood still run through your veins?
Does your heart still beat the same?
Here's a pen and paper to write down a name,
A person whose loyalty has remained true to the game,
All you see is the shadow,
Of a cold-hearted fellow,
I heard the promises of a man's lover,
The strength of an oath to stay forever,
The type of loyalty I admired,
But her lust for vanity,
Broke a love meant for eternity,
I saw friends gathered,
Sharing dreams that mattered,
In the presence of alcohol with lots of laughter,
I felt this loyalty couldn't be altered,
But greed and envy took over,
As the unity of the broom was broken forever,
They say loyalty brings no pain,
With loyalty there's no hate,
Loyalty can't be stained,
But I say it can betray.

A shipwreck that can simply be avoided, but the vices do slay...

I like your poem. I agree..."Loyalty can't be stained,
But I say it can betray." You are right in so many ways. I feel you. It is sincere and honest writing. It is also strong yet delicate. I appreciate your thoughts. Well written and expressed. See up the good work!

This is a first class write my friend. In the whatever life I have lived I too have witnessed friends turning foes, lovers into strangers, trusted ones into backstabbers. We live life and change is the only continuous thing. Nature and character, both are not exception to it.

Thanks alot friend, I appreciate the review
This is sad and yet very true and that is why we all risk it when we open up to people...what people also don't understand is you are only as good as your word and once you break that you can never be trusted by the same person again

Rightly said, thanks alot for the review.
oh..well, tis true...whether to trust or not to trust. we have to throw our heart out there from time to time, but we always run the risk of betrayal. Very well written though. i can feel your heart out there in this poem. nicely done!
