Loyalty That BetraysA Poem by OlumegbonAnyone who's loyal today can be disloyal tomorrow
Does blood still run through your veins?
Does your heart still beat the same? Here's a pen and paper to write down a name, A person whose loyalty has remained true to the game, All you see is the shadow, Of a cold-hearted fellow, I heard the promises of a man's lover, The strength of an oath to stay forever, The type of loyalty I admired, But her lust for vanity, Broke a love meant for eternity, I saw friends gathered, Sharing dreams that mattered, In the presence of alcohol with lots of laughter, I felt this loyalty couldn't be altered, But greed and envy took over, As the unity of the broom was broken forever, They say loyalty brings no pain, With loyalty there's no hate, Loyalty can't be stained, But I say it can betray. © 2015 OlumegbonAuthor's Note
