A Stranger to Love

A Stranger to Love

A Poem by Olumegbon

Tell me something,
A tale I've never noticed,
A perfect film story,
With all the romantic glory,
From the view of a spectator's satisfaction,
The one that creates certain imagination,
A world without blemish,
Where relationships are cherished,
I'm a novice,
A blind man to the spectacle,
Tears of couples i know,
Broken promises I've seen,
When does the myth become a reality,
My eyes have never witnessed a perfect family,
Who are the carriers of the rumour,
The ones creating mental false picture,
Switching reality for fantasy,
Maybe I'm wrong and ignorant,
Maybe I'm a stranger to love.

A powerful poem.
"Maybe I'm wrong and ignorant,
Maybe I'm a stranger to love."
Love is hard to define. Each of us want more or less. I believe each of us define what love is for us. Thank you my friend for the outstanding poetry.

My honor and you are welcome.
This beautiful poignant piece begs to be read out loud. I love the flow and rhythm of your lines and the meaning behind "when does the myth become a reality" is so very thought provoking!

I'm glad you can relate, thanks alot.
I find this a solid straight forward write and social commentary. Why do we think that humans, with all our imperfections, could create a perfect unit? Love is a great starting point, but it really takes Commitment in epic proportions and respect.
I think as writers we cover the really good parts and the really tragic parts. Its the daily work and choices that get left out of the relationship equation. I consider myself happily married, but can tell you there are times when I don't want to look at my husband or four kids, but that is temporary. What my family knows, is we don't give up on each other and we work at issues. That's how we keep it together..not because we are perfect. We are far from it.

Thanks alot for the review, I appreciate alot.
Olumegbon: Your writing is simply amazing. The media does portray so many unrealistic unobtainable things, but for me, in many cases people do not put forth the effort; everything's throwaway and so sad, like the emotions and images you brought forth in this wonderful poem. You got right to the heart of the matter, and the questions you ask will make other readers think too. That is part of your talent Olumegbon. Who are the carriers of the rumour...loved it, like so many lines. Honest: tears of couples I know...I've seen it too, I've felt it...Just a beautiful composition and I thank you. Dale
