A Stranger to Love

A Stranger to Love

A Poem by Olumegbon

Tell me something,
A tale I've never noticed,
A perfect film story,
With all the romantic glory,
From the view of a spectator's satisfaction,
The one that creates certain imagination,
A world without blemish,
Where relationships are cherished,
I'm a novice,
A blind man to the spectacle,
Tears of couples i know,
Broken promises I've seen,
When does the myth become a reality,
My eyes have never witnessed a perfect family,
Who are the carriers of the rumour,
The ones creating mental false picture,
Switching reality for fantasy,
Maybe I'm wrong and ignorant,
Maybe I'm a stranger to love.

It is peculiar the way life works. From childhood, we make the connections to relationships the way we see them. If we experience everything that goes around us negatively, then we carry it as that for the rest of our days. The opposite is true for people who only see good and solid relationships between people. So it is either dystopia or utopia, almost never in between.

Hi Olumegbon. This seems to me as if you have caught yourself in deep introspective thought, considered your thoughts, and them committed them to paper. Strange where the mind leads sometime, but this has worked for you and you have given me some thought provoking lines here!!!~ Love it, alf

Very strong when it comes to misplaced love then it all jells in the end with the last statement Maybe I'm a stranger to love that brings out a whole new concept to the poem it was a delight to read. Thanks for sharing.

There's no perfection. We try our best to do it as perfect as possible, sometimes you succeed, sometimes not. Good poem, Olumegbon. :) Rudi
