A Conversation with God

A Conversation with God

A Story by Olumegbon
"

I hope this is not seen as blasphemy.

"
ME: Abba Father, where did thou go wrong? There's no rest for the pawn in your chess game. Constantly struggling on daily basis with less results. We asked but our bread was never given, prayed all night in your sanctuary but we're still shivering. Aren't we forgiven? Still holding grudges for the sin of Adam and Eve. At least, give us a reason for us not to stop believing. Our blood has turned black, our hearts has gone dark, Man no longer believes in thou. Hence, we the christ-likes face all the crisis. Your absence is obvious thereby making us nervous. You made us, watched sin invade us and now you've refuse to save us. How are we to believe that there's a better afterlife when we suffer drastically in this life. We've been mocked, they say our religion sucks but we still have faith that thou will come. God, all I'm asking is why stay silent and watch the fake preachers eat in your name, the famine that kills only the poor, the government that steals and kills the outspoken, the terrorists taking lives for invalid reasons, the natural disasters that destroys what you created and once cherished. Why stay silent?

GOD: Son, without hearing your voice, your heart has already said much. I gave Man free-will and the result was tragic. I had good intentions but it was abused without appreciation. My heart bleeds when I hear the words that come out from man's lips. I see everyone's heart and the darkness has gone too far. Wonder why the ocean never dries? because I cry every day due to the evil ways of Man. Is there anything I do that you will appreciate? Yet I still have mercy on you all because I sacrificed my only son for your sins and his death will never be in vain. I've prepared a new world, a perfect world without an atom of evil but the journey of this world must come to an end first. The mystery of this world is something you will never understand until your soul departs from your body. So I say unto you, ignore the tribulations, strengthen your faith and hold on to the word. When the trumpet sounds, you will be by my right side.

Rightly said. I appreciate. Thanks
Very good! I know that the suffering and the pain in this world are things that poeple use to try and explain away God. They use that to say that a loving, perfect God would never allow those things to happen to His people. You have laid it out very well as to what you think God would say back to you, and it gives a sense of comfort for others reading. Thanks for sharing

No Olumegbon, not blasphemous at all.

Theologian Richard Rubenstein, who lost so many relatives and friends during the holocaust said
"after Auschwitz what else can a Jew say about God? More than the bodies of my people went up in
smoke there. The god of the covenant died there also." More than questioning 'God' the Omnipotent,
he was questioning God the man-like likeness with human limitations. If you ask my mother,
a southern Baptist, she would take careful aim and with great accuracy, at the devil as the main
source of strife, pain and turmoil. But she doesn't read poetry, nor would I suggest she could respond
to any rhetorical grandiloquent this side of grace. Old folk have answers when no answer is expected
lol.

Interesting poem my friend. Interesting because you first offered an apology if someone was
offended. Caring is the very first test of humanity. I wasn't offended and I loved this poem/
