My Opinion didn't Count

My Opinion didn't Count

A Poem by Olumegbon

If I talk, will you listen,
If I speak, will you respond,
My advice was ignored,
My words were never adored,
I was flattered,
you said I mattered,
Sadly, my opinion was murdered.

I was honest with you,
I gave you the truth,
My experience was real,
You had so much zeal,
You rejected my plea,
Took the first chance you had to flee,
Sadly, My opinion was buried in the sea.

You took the high way,
Your curiosity in display,
Your actions got your heart sore,
You want no more,
But its too late to go out the door,
You remember my words,
The advice you chastised,
My opinion tries to wipe the tears off your eyes,
Sadly, its too late.

you are so very welcome :)
This is another piece of yours that works really well, but I feel falls flat in the rhyming department. If you can, you might want to invest in three books. A thesaurus, a rhyming dictionary and a dictionary. People might argue that the mechanical nature of these texts could impede the emotional development of the piece, but it isn't true. Words are tools. You need a tool for every job and you need to know how to use them. Expanding your toolbox could do wonders for work, which already carries a high caliber of quality. And this is by no means restrictive. Your work is improving rapidly and you already started in a pretty good place. You have the potential to be one of the greats, you just have to hone your craft.

I'm loving the work though. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to read it.
A sad poem. Giving up is no solution, there's always a sun behind the clouds even when at a certain moment we don't see it. Hope in the foundation of life. Well written, Olumegbon. :) Rudi

This is so sad and Olumegbon and I loved it! Reminded me of a song, Drops of Jupiter, by Train. Thank you. Dale

Very true. Thanks a lot.
I like the poem! I have had times in which I did not take the opinions of certian friends and I lived to regret it. It's good to remember that there are people that have already been through what you may be going through and their opinion should valued. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, alright dear.
Strong words and emotion in the poetry.
If I talk, will you listen,
"If I speak, will you respond,
My advice was ignored,
My words were never adored,
I was flattered,
you said I mattered,
Sadly, my opinion was murdered. "
The above lines were direct and powerful. Sometime the truth is seen and we must adjust. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
