My Paper

My Paper

A Poem by Olumegbon
"

The paper pays more attention than any human.

"
I confided in the paper and found love in writing. I've been lazy all this long and now that hurts because I could have achieved a lot within these past years. In my lonely hours, I ran to my diary and told it things dat I even hid from my creator. Sometimes in life, we don't want someone who will talk to us but that person who will give us his attention by just listening and I realised that my paper was all I've got. My pen became my best friend and the paper my lover. There was this chemistry that only we knew of. Sometimes we had our misunderstanding and stayed apart for days but when we came back, it was bliss. It was a feeling that no man could predict or analyse. Now we're dating, hoping to get married and give birth to sayings that will inspire the generation to come and stick in the hearts of our future leaders. Sayings that when they remember, they will think of its root and remember the anonymous writer, who was tipsy in an empty classroom as he wrote this, thinking of the future and a way to impact it.

I could not have expressed this better. These are feelings I've had but was not able to put on paper... I'd put it into stanzas, maybe, and consider working on the run-on sentences. I write several run-ons myself, sometimes, and if that's your personal preference, keep it the same. If you feel that communicates your point better, don't change it. :)

Most of us wasted time. But we must live to write and write to live. A blank life leave empty pages. You have time. I was lucky. I kept journals. I have 45 journals of poetry, story and real life. I can write about the past today. Thank you for sharing your always thoughts provoking and wonderful poetry.

Thanks so much Rudi
I like the metaphor throughout, having a relationship with writing. I can relate to taking long breaks from penning words. It's nice to come back to it. I might change the word 'this' to 'these' in the second line... Small grammatical correction if it works for you. I like the one 'give birth to sayings'. That is certainly a pregnant metaphor. Nice job overall.

Definitely, thanks a lot.
The idea of a relationship with paper and pen is fascinating. You have a tenderness that you share with the pen, paper and words. I have never read something where these things come to life. Bravo!
