Give me a Reason

Give me a Reason

A Poem by Olu Dumare

Your scented missive

enchanting the mystic

who amidst the mist

of your pensive admissions

admits admissive

restricting conditions

her lack of repentance created a cynic

but your test resistant,

blessed conditions

my pessimistic exorcism

‘cause fear is either a mechanism

of defense

or a demon that infects the system

does love have no worth

or are you not worth love?

does it provide the highest high

or define the worst drug?

is trust worth trusting?

is love worth loving?

is it truly worth it all

or is it all worth nothing…

we all need reasons for existence...this shows that so well in theme...and what a terrific natural play on words...
and that question at the end? i think is is worth something...love is worth it, even when it fails to cure what ails us.
