The Cockatrice

The Cockatrice

A Poem by Alexandria

Aloft in the crow's nest a creature stirs

Deadlier than the bite of a cobra

She has waited through the day

For the crew to go to rest

Once the stars hang high in the sky

She will use the deadly venom of the cockatrice

To obtain the prey of her choice

Human flesh and blood will be scattered around

If the crew is smart

They will abandon ship by morining

The crew will be hunted unil they are gone one by one

For the cockatrice is far deadlier than any rogue wave

Lovely, vivid imagery, and a fantastic subject choice. Overall, a well written poem. (May I ask, what inspired this? I have never heard of a cockatrice until this poem intrigued me and encouraged me to look it up.)
