Graduation Day (finished)

Graduation Day (finished)

A Poem by OliviaTheElf
"

Here's the finished poem of Graduation Day. To be honest, it literally makes me almost cry to read and think about this.

"

From the time we were little, all the way up to now,

Our parents had told us we were growing up so fast,

But we didn’t know how.

Throughout the years, we all grew up and changed,

Through child hood and school, we all become trained.

For the better future, and the bigger tomorrow,

From our trials and tribulations,

From happiness to sorrow.

The older we grew, the more different we became,

Our new stories to tell, the people we became.

The days when we were young, all flew by,

We never noticed our childhood passing,

In the blink of an eye.

Now that it’s time, for us to all grow up,

A tall glass of future, filling in our cups,

We look back on all of the friends we made,

All the memories we have, a price cannot be paid.

From playing in our tree houses,

To making sand castles and digging up dirt,

To the kindergarten finger paints, all over our shirts,

The smiles we had and all of the laughter we spread,

To all of the candy and ice cream, we enjoyed being fed.

For all of those bike rides, and Saturday cartoons,

To staying up late and playing outside until we saw the moon,

To our bare feet with splinters, to our lightening bug catches,

To the lessons we learned about playing with matches.

For the times we lit of our first fireworks,

On a Fourth of July afternoon,

After all of our this time,

We had been growing up so soon.

Now we’re ready to graduate, and go into the world,

To get jobs in offices,

And give adulthood a whirl.

We’re all ready to change, and begin our new lives,

We’re ready to soon have children, and find our wives.

So to you I say, one last thing,

This small little poem to tell you something with meaning.

I miss going outside and digging up bugs, and all those mud pies we made.

I wish we never had to grow up and lose ourselves.

I wish things would never have changed.

So here goes to all of our childhoods and to that bland morning news.

I know that when I see you guys in 10 years,

I know I'll see you all in suits.

wonderful sentiment.

But you know... as difficult as it is. and how quickly we forget. and even more so how fast it happens.. our inner child does not need to be lost. In fact, remember to let her come out and play every once in awhile.. free of worry and responsibility. Enjoy the moment :)
