"When Greed Tarnishes Generosity" - By Olivia Rose TA Poem by OliviaRoseT
A helping hand, a generous heart
But greed creeps in, and love departs Money's poison seeps into the bond, As one in need, the other extends a hand. Generosity flows, without a thought, But greed creeps in, like a thief in the night. Expectations rise, demands take hold, The giver's kindness, now taken for gold. Money's curse, a wedge in relationships strong, A destroyer of trust, where love once belonged. The giver's kindness, exploited without care, The receiver's expectations, growing without repair. They upgrade their life, with money not their own, Forgetting struggles, and where they used to call home. They spend with abandon, on things they don't need, Overspending, without thought or heed. They forget the giver, and the help they received, Taking credit for it all, with a selfish deceit. Boasting to the world, of their newfound wealth, Ignoring the person, who made it all possible, beneath. Their friendship and love, reduced to mere ash, A tragic reminder, of money's destructive clash. So let this be a lesson, to always keep in mind, That money's power, can ruin relationships, and leave them blind. © 2024 OliviaRoseT |
