Lost in the RainA Poem by Oliver FreeA poem I wrote on a particularly rainy morning.Yet again the rain falls as I wander down these halls. This silence, all-consuming, Keeps the flowers from blooming. It's hard to say when it began, And harder to say when it will end. The water's surface, knee deep, Haunts my mind as I try to sleep. The allure of the crystal clear droplets Makes me ever more hesitant to stop this. But I know, in my heart, That some day we will part. Part of me fills with a nervous fear As I hold your hand, pleading for you to stay here. But you told me it would be alright. So I watched you leave, waiting with hope for night. You never did come home.
