I Am

I Am

A Poem by Oliver Lee
"

An "I Am" poem I had to do for a school project that I thought I'd post on here

"

I am the city of dreams that you’ve never dreamed of

I'm the way you fidget and twist when you are anxious

I am the forces of nature; sun, wind, rain

I’m both the feelings of pleasure and pain

I am the forlorn purples and sickly yellows and brazen blues of that two day old bruise you got after falling out of the tree

I’m the sweet angry taste of vinegar, like poison on your tongue

I linger in your head like a computer tab that you cannot close

I rummage through your thoughts like your mother going through old clothes

I am the crackled warrant of the fires smoke

I am the stench of the fumes that make you choke

I am the desolate truth, hiding behind the maestro of a mind parasite

I am the cause for an emotional genocide

I am the never-ending, never-beginning, just existing, number 0

With indefinite absolution and faded smiles, I grant the wish of feeling to those who have become numb

I dissolve the toxicity in the system

I am wanderlust in the moonlit downpour

I beg for one more day with the power of resolution

I prevail as a match in the water

And burn out

I am the nights daughter

I love the description;
"I am the never-ending, never-beginning, just existing, number 0"
I never would have thought 0 to be so complex!
So innovative, thought of and true! This is why I love this site
