Madeira Olive (Chapter One)

Chapter One

Benyamin drives through the village of Mesopotamia, Saint Vincent. He looks outside the car window and sees a beautiful woman. The woman is slim and has a dark brown complexion. The women hair was like wool. She had on a long beautiful dress. “Hello, miss do you want a ride," asked Benyamin.

"I do not take rides from strangers," said the woman.

“Ok. Have a bless day madam, said Benyamin.

"Thank you. You too."

The next day Benyamin entered a restaurant in Kingstown, Saint Vincent.

“You the woman I saw yesterday."

"Are you stalking me?"

"No."

"I believe we meet again because the most high wanted us to meet again." 

The woman was paying for her food at the restaurant. 

"Madame, you are a dollar short," said the cashier.

“I will pay the dollar for her," said Benyamin. 

Benyamin gave the woman the dollar to pay the cashier. 

"Thank you," said the woman.

“What is your name?"

            "Ezra Black."  

            “My name is Benyamin Olive.”

            Benyamin gives Ezra his telephone number. He asks for her telephone number. She gives him her number. He leaves the restaurant with his food to go home.  Three days later he calls Ezra. They begin to talk on the phone.

            “Hello.”

            “Hello. This is Benyamin Olive calling.”

            “Hi. Benyamin. How are you doing?”

            “I am doing well.”

            One of the things Benyamin mentions in his conversation with Ezra was that he is a divorce man with three children. He has two sons and one daughter. His sons name was Timothy Olive and Sean Olive. Benyamin daughter named is Hazel Olive. Ezra mentions that she has one daughter named Lauren Black.

            One year later Benyamin and Ezra were in a romantic relationship with each other. Five years later Benyamin and Ezra marry each other. One month in their marriage they moved to Brooklyn, New York with their children. Three months in their marriage Ezra became pregnant. Nine months later, Ezra gives birth to a beautiful baby girl named Madeira Olive.

Madeira was two years old when Hazel was giving her a bath. There was not any at home in their apartment. Madeira was crying because Hazel hits Madeira on purpose. Hazel runs to the bathroom when she hears Madeira crying because this was not the first time Lauren hears Madeira crying. There have been several times Lauren has heard Madeira crying when Hazel gives her a bath.

            “What is going on,” asked Lauren.

“You never hear a child cry before,” asked Hazel.
“I was just concern,” said Lauren.

            The next day Lauren hears Madeira crying. She went towards the bathroom door. The bathroom door was half open. Lauren witness Hazel hitting Madeira for no reason.

            “What are you doing,” said Lauren.

            “I am bathing your sister,” said Hazel.

            “That your sister too,” said Lauren.

            Hazel left Madeira in the tub and left the bathroom. Lauren bathes Madeira that day and look after her that entire day.  One month later, Benyamin divorce Ezra because Benyamin felt that Ezra was not a good woman to him.

            One month after Ezra’s divorce, she was living in her apartment with her daughters Lauren and Madeira. One day Ezra went to her job. She leaves her two daughters by her sister Carina.

            "What time are you picking up your kids? This is not a daycare service. If you do not pick up your kids I will call child protective service for your kids,” said Carina.

            One hour later, Ezra picks up her kids by her sister Carina. She never allows her children to stay by Carina again. One week later, Ezra’s sister Rachel babysit her daughters. Rachel loves her nieces. She shows this through her actions.

            One year after Ezra’s divorce, she becomes friend with a man named Joseph. During this time Madeira was three years old and Lauren was ten years old. One year later, Ezra and Joseph enter a relationship with each other. Ezra becomes pregnant six months in her relationship with Joseph. During Ezra’s pregnancy she becomes mentally ill.

            “I want to go back home,” said Ezra.

            “Mommy you are right here in your apartment. This is your home,” said Lauren.

            “I mean Saint Vincent, said Ezra.”

            One month later, Ezra was walking outside talk to someone next to her that was not there. She was taking cash money and was throwing it in the street. Carina saw her sister Ezra throwing money in the street. She went towards her sister.

            “Why you behaving like this,” said Carina.

            “Get out my face said Ezra.

Carina took some money up from the ground and walk away. She was grinning her teeth.

“One week later Carina calls Ezra.”

“Sister, I bought three plane tickets for you and your children,” said Carina.

“Ok. I will come and pick up the plane tickets from you.”

Lauren overheard the conversation that Ezra was having with Carina. She took Madeira and sneaks out the house to go to Rachel’s house. Lauren told Rachel what Carina has done.

The next day Rachel opens her apartment door to go throw out the trash. When she opens the door, she saw Ezra standing in front her apartment door. Ezra squeezes herself into Rachel’s apartment for her children.

“I am not going anywhere with you mommy,” said Lauren.

“You coming with me! You think you a big woman,” said Ezra.

“No,” shouted Lauren.

Ezra ran in to Rachael’s room with Madeira. She calls the police.

“You are not going to take these kids with you,” said Rachel.

“I force them so they going to come with me,” said Ezra.

“What you mean you force them,” asked Rachel.

“I forced them out my p***y. They coming with me,” said Ezra.

Police men arrive at Rachel’s wide open apartment door.

“Police she not giving me my children,” said Ezra.

Lauren and Madeira came out of Rachel’s bedroom.

“Ma’am are these your children,” asked one other police men.

“Yes,” said Ezra.

“Is this your mother,” another police men ask Lauren.

“Yes this is my mother. She is mentally ill and needs help. She is trying to take me and my sister out of this country,” said Lauren.

“Your mom looks normal,” said a police man.

“Ma’am, these children will have to go with their mother or else we will have to arrest you for kidnapping,” said a police men.

Rachel loves her nieces but she did not want to go to jail.

“Lauren you and Maddie would have to go. I love you girls. May the most high keep you girls safe,” said Rachel.

One week later, Ezra and her daughters were in a village in Saint Vincent called Free Village.  Ezra and her daughters were living with her mother Gina.

Gina realizes Ezra’s mind was not right and went to live with her daughter Mary.

“Madeira and Lauren were not receiving food from their mother. Their mother’s sister named Mary gave Madeira and Lauren food to eat.

One Sunday morning, Ezra was burning up all her belonging.

Mary peeps out of her house window and sees her sister burning all her belongings.

“Enough is enough,” said Mary.

It was a Monday morning, when Mary had a plan. Ezra left her daughter by themselves and went for a walk.

“Lauren Madeira’s father is in this country. We need to get Madeira to her father,” said Mary.

“How are we supposed to do this,” asked Lauren.

“Child, let get Madeira ready for the airport,” said Mary.

Mary comb Madeira’s hair and put one of her daughter’s named Leah dress on her.

“Ok. You do not want to take the road because your mother might see you. Go through the banana field with your sister. When you arrive by the road, Benyamin will be waiting for you,” said Rachel.

“Ok,” said Lauren.

Lauren took Madeira and went through the banana field. When she arrives in the road, she saw Benyamin standing next to a car. Benyamin gives Lauren some money.

“Thank you,” said Lauren.

Afterwards Lauren went to school.

Benyamin’s sister Alisha drove Benyamin and Madeira to the airport. Benyamin and Madeira arrive in New York safely.  

In the meantime, during that same day, Ezra realizes Madeira gone missing.

“Lauren you were supposed to look after your sister. How you do not know where your sister is,” said Ezra.

Ezra takes a ladder and places it towards Mary’s window. Mary screams when she looks out one of her window and saw Ezra look through her window.

“Where is Madeira? I know you have her in here. You got my pregnant a*s on this ladder because you have my child in your house,” said Ezra.

“I do not know where your daughter is,” said Mary.

“Let me check your house,” said Ezra.

Mary allows Ezra to check her house. Ezra did not find Ezra inside of her house. Ezra went to the village where Alisha lives.

“Alisha you have my child. I know you have my child,” said Ezra.

“Ezra I do not know where your child is,” said Alisha.

“Let me check your house,” said Ezra.

Alisha allows Ezra to check her house. Ezra did not find her daughter Madeira in Alisha’s house. The next day Alisha calls Benyamin.

“Ben, you better contact Ezra. She is seeking for her child,” said Alisha.

“Alright, said Benyamin.

The next day Benyamin calls Mary so he can speak to Ezra. Mary calls out Ezra name very loud. Ezra came by Mary’s house.

“Why are you calling my name out like that. I am not deaf in my ears. I hear very well. The next time I will buss your a*s if you call out my name like that,” said Ezra.

“Someone is on the phone for you,” said Ezra.

Ezra went inside Mary’s house. In the meantime, Gina was sitting in the living room.

            “Hello,” said Ezra.

            “Hello Ezra. This is Benjamin. I have Madeira here in New York with me, said Benyamin.

            “You take Madeira without my knowing. If you was here I would have buss your a*s for you. Anyway, take good care of her,” said Ezra.

            Ezra’s due date comes. Her water broke when she was home along inside a room inside a room in her home. The room was empty. There were not any clothes or furniture in that room or any or the other rooms in her home. During this time, Mary’s children and Lauren were outside playing. When they thought there was a goat in the house with Ezra.

“That a goat,” said Mary’s eldest child Michael.

“She does not have a stove to cook the goat. Why would she have a goat in the house,” said Mary’s second child Erica.

The children peep through one of the holes of the boards of the house. They saw a baby boy lying on the floor next to Ezra. The children went to their mother’s house.

“Mommy. Tante Ezra has her baby,” said Erica.

Mary let an ambulance pick Ezra up to take her to the hospital. She also let the hospital know that Ezra is suffering with a mental illness. When Ezra comes out the hospital she was taking treatment for her mental illness. However, she was not taking care of her child. Mary was taking care of her child for her. She also names Ezra’s son Robert.

In the meantime, in New York City, Benyamin wants Madeira to come back to Saint Vincent because he was having a difficult time taking care of Madeira. Timothy Olive was living on his own. Sean Olive and Hazel Olive were teenagers that were attending high school and never wants to make time to pick up their sister from day care. Benyamin was always working.

“If you keep leaving before the time you suppose to leave, I will fire you. You cannot bring your child to this construction site either,” said Benyamin’s boss.

Benyamin makes the decision to let Madeira live with his sister Alisha in Saint Vincent. When Madeira was five years old, she was living with her mother and Lauren. Gina move back in her house with her daughter Ezra. Mary also allows her sister to take care of her son Robert. Robert has Down syndrome.
