Eternal Damnation

Eternal Damnation

A Poem by Meghan
"

I wrote this in response to the prompt, "A Demon's Fate." I relied on the idea (I can't remember if it's biblical or philosophical) that some are destined for eternal salvation, while others are not.

"

Among us there are those

Blessed with eternal salvation,

And others who slip inaudibly

Through the cement sidewalk cracks

Beneath the clicking

Of ignorant heels,

And still others

Whose teeth are bared

In grimaces as though fish hooks

Perforate their throats

And spill out their mouths like fangs:

The eternally damned.

Takes the self out of choice... we try so hard to believe we impact beyond our time. I wonder if even the loudest critics on the emptiness have the littlest glimmer of a wish when they fade to their dark.

I think you need reason for yourself and let others follow their own prompts. Don't let others direct your thoughts...
