Still in Vietnam

Still in Vietnam

A Poem by Blue
"

I see a Vietnam veteran screaming at cars at an intersection near were I live.

"

He spent life’s fandango

In booze and drugs

Vietnam ruined him

Society gave him

The exclamation mark

He yells at cars

At the intersection

Of Fannin and Alabama

Is he yelling at himself?

Or is he yelling at society?

He wears veteran’s pins

He has a veteran’s hat

I wondered if he was

Really a veteran

I looked into his eyes

One day while driving

Hopelessness reflected from

His haunted stare

A ghost standing there

As I passed

He saluted my Jeep

With the Army sticker

On the back bumper

He was still in Vietnam

I really like this poem. It is emotionally deep, it makes me think of a man that is now broken over so much chaos. Something as big as war is hard to forgete. Reallly good poem.
