For Rob

A poem that I wrote to my friend Rob who has been there for me

Darkness shrouded my soul with despair

The light that shines now is so warm has such care

Shine through and down upon my face

Happiness enough for this wretched human race

I see now through the facade

What you were doing to me keeping me downtrod

It's like I awoke from a very long sleep

Where my slumber was so very deep

I opened my eyes to your treachery

Not knowing for months that it was even aimed at me

The people that I hold so dear

Friends and family saw you perfectly clear

Now that my heart is no longer in the dark

I shout out to the heavens "I am alive and I will make my mark"

I shine with happiness from within

Thanks to a very dear friend

One who saw the truth but didn't want to say

In fear of what hurt it would bring me that day

A friend like that is such a rare find

That if you do happen to come across one keep this in mind

They need only one thing from you

A love that is kind a love that is true

I've found one of those really rare finds

So I wrote him a poem I hope he doesn't mind
