Numbers Always Lie
A Poem by Oki, the Penguin
This poem is about how the ones we fall in love with aren't always the ones we are meant to be with.
humble heaths that lie beneath
her beauty - broken by her curse
like heaven's doors dying to peel open
and vanquish shadows behind light
never said like never kept
are her secrets foretold by hate
oh her smile, her beautiful smile
tells lies of the same sins she forgave
I count trap doors between fingers
first of hers, then of mine
they match in size and numbers
but numbers always lie
I hate her selfish beauty
but I love the way she smiles
I'm tired of counting secrets
because numbers always lie

I understand the poem is about a romantic women who is beautiful yet also undutiful. However, I felt like it needed more concrete details because the main thing I felt was neither emotion nor curiosity, but confusion.
