Stays in Vegas

Stays in Vegas

A Poem by Czarina
"

But it didn't happen here, it just followed me.

"

Caught a plane across the United States

Lucky me, I got hold of a window seat

Let's watch the cities shrink into fireflies

Below pink clouds look like cotton candy

Wow, the air is hotter than imagined

This city sure likes its neon lights

“Hey, aren't you enjoying yourself?”

That time the camera flashed a little too bright

Back aching against the hotel mattress

My eyes feel dry

Say that a plane engine exploded and set ablaze

All of the people would die up here in the sky

So what if I never touched the ground again?

Would that really be the end of the world?

But I heard, “Never mind, don't think like that”

“I've seen too many nights that end in flames”

“If you can take in just an ounce of air”

“Tomorrow will not seem as dreadful”

Drifting somewhere along the Pacific

Stars make up the sidewalk I walk on

How can the sky seem to be so blue?

To be honest I kind of miss those oak trees

Eat and drink with all that you have left

That is all everyone can do here

Isn't that boring after not too long?

Now my head is rolling in the sea foam

I cannot help but remember

Why I cannot go home

Say that an island rose up out of nowhere

And this floating city sunk like a pebble

What if we all become lost like Atlantis?

Maybe I will find something better in the deep

My cell phone is singing that sad tune

Say that I never replied to you

My cell phone is singing that sad tune

Say it's another one of those emails

My cell phone is singing that sad tune

Say that this is why things are the same

My cell phone is singing that sad tune

Say that now is when it starts to hurt

My cell phone is singing that sad tune

Say that nobody said I love you

My cell phone is singing that sad tune

Say I think I already lost you too

Say that what I knew was as fake as this place

Did I always think I would fall for it everyday?

I know, I know, I know, and can't deny anymore

I can never go back, never

Go back, never

Never go back

But I heard, “Please, don't say those things”

“Somebody needs you where you came from”

“It would be rather sad to never leave”

“Whatever happened stays but can still change”
