April 1925A Poem by CzarinaBut I'm watching you lose your mind, so bear with me...Hello dear dementia Look who has come to visit Hello, that's right Do you remember me? Feeling rather grumpy? Your tantrum interrupted Oh well, so long Perhaps another day The months went by like this Before I realized that In order to see you smile again I need to let you go Waiting all this time For your time to meet the end Accepted this as fate You were never meant to stay Not trying to hurt you I mean this in the best way But I'm watching you Lose your mind, so bear with me Survived nearly a century Surpassing the average Congrats, you win The world applauds with awe In reward for your achievement How about hallucinations? Some pain, no gain For living so long I hate to grow up like you If it aches the more I exist Though you cannot read this Better tell you now Replacing your legs with A pair of rubber wheels When you look at me is There someone else you see? Why not fly to heaven Leave this cruel place at last? Between God and your love Wouldn't you prefer to be? What would he think if he looked down and saw you like this? How does it feel to love something and forget what it is? I should open my mouth while you could hear Instead I'll smile and say nothing as you rot away Waiting all this time For your time to meet the end Accepted this as fate You were never meant to stay Could I maybe ask you Every question that I have? Instead, I start over with a “Nice to meet you” In the future when you die Your mind can be itself Free from your body and the earth Things destined to fail If you're reading this right now Then I will admit I did not know you But loved you nonetheless © 2016 Czarina |
