SequesteredA Poem by CzarinaSequester: to keep (a person or group) apart from other people.A deep dark hole was dug in front of the lonely girl, who held her head lower than her neck And with a sudden shove, she fell, spiraling deeper into darkness, the sunlight dissolving into dirt and dust And when she hit the bottom, the pain dawning over her, She made no effort to climb back out again to the world "I'll just hide here anyway, for that's what they seem to want. And the ground piled and enclosed around the girl, choking her Would it make any difference, would anyone realize That she got locked away and her voice no longer heard? She lays in the darkness, the mendacious refuge from misery Is everyone else just blind? Hear the people up above, walking over the buried girl Feel their footsteps shaking the girl in her deprived world Always dreaming of the day she will be able to walk again Her true face erased from the world, no longer to be seen The memories of the light pound on the girl's crushed heart But she still remembers the silent rejection of the voices all around She still hopes that someone will come to set her free Yet as she lays in the deep, no one seems understands The days are colder and the world is harder than how it was before And even somehow past agony keeps her locked in place The voices she can never trust seem to promise lies Still she shivers and claws at her arms Hear the people up above, walking over the buried girl Feel their footsteps shaking the girl in her deprived world And no one seemed to care, they never noticed anyway The air gets thinner as she tries so hard to breathe again "There's nothing wrong with being buried, I feel happy here." Or so she would lie to herself with a fading smile Until at last everything cracks and the pieces left on the ground are stepped upon No one listens to her cry! The buried girl who was lost long ago wipes her tears and stops fighting with the absent voices She takes one last look around, shakes her heavy head in shame and then finally she dies... Tired of being run over, angry at being forced away A new girl breaks the wall restraining her inside The light strokes a soul that gave up and hid away No longer entombed but the unburied treasure that was finally found Hear her standing once again, running away from the past Hear her long-lost voice that is finally heard among the crowd No hands tied at her back, no quiet nods she would later regret Kicking the dirt and never losing the light that never let her go at all Never going back, letting the fears go Shattering free, no longer buried alive
