ReunionA Chapter by GodsOfNeutralityHunter POV
I hissed in pain. I was in my room checking on the bruise from the punch. I wasn't worried. It would heal in an hour or two. I went to see Rai. In the living room I heard the TV on max with the sounds of waves and a ship.
"Yo Rai. What's there to eat?" I said walking to the couch.
Instead of seeing my cousin there was this girl, a year or two older than me, with brown hair and hazel eyes.
"Who are you?" We both said at the same time.
"You first," I said crossing my arms.
"I'm Kenzie. Rai's girlfriend."
"Hunter. His cousin." I said sitting down. "So where'd he go?"
"He went to the store for food." Then she leaned over and brushed a hand over my bruise.
I hissed in pain and removed her hand. "Don't do that."
"What happened?" "Nothing," I said picking up the remote. "I hate this movie."
"Why? I think it's romantic," she said smiling.
"I'm not a hopeless romantics." I switched off the movie to America Ninja Warrior.
"You don't have to be so mean." She said sighing.
"Just because your dating family doesn't make you family," I turned to her and gave a small smile. " Let's start at friends first."
"Okay. So as your friend, I'll grab you an icepack."
"And I'll see what's taking Rai so long." I got up and went to my room for my phone.
I saw I missed a call from my mom. I called back.
"Hello." She spoke absentmindedly and made no effort to put emotion in her voice.
"You called."
"It was stolen."
She didn't need to specify what it was. I knew. It was a war project that was supposed to ship out in the morning.
"Are you worried?"
"No. I just wanted to notify you of my arrival within the week. Until then I suggest you assist in the recovery operation."
"Got it," I hung up and texted Rai.
He said he was stuck in traffic but would get here in five minutes.
I went back to the living room.
"You heard from him?" Kenzie asked giving me the icepack.
"Yeah. He'll be here in five." I said switching Artemis to track the weapon.
