TorinaA Chapter by GodsOfNeutrality
"Don't worry Derik I'll get the money," I couldn't tell what would happen if I didn't.
"........Fine you have 2 months. After that you have two choices: work for me or leave town for good. And trust me I'll know if you're gone," his voice was low and gravelly. My mind thought of my friend Sam and I shook my head. "I got it." I hung up and put down the phone. Derik wasn't one to play with and I did owe the guy for letting me stay this long. I didn't know my parents so he rented out the house to me. But every time it came to pay I was short. He ignored it the first few times, but was tired of my excuses. I sighed and went to my garage. Inside was a broken car that was here when I arrived. Hidden in the glove compartment were my keys and some pocket money. I left the garage to head over to Sam's house. It was winter here in New York so it was snowing. I shivered a little before closing the door. Sam lived a few blocks down, which was the reason I got the house. Unlike me her parents were still around and came to check up on me from time to time. Which was more pity than compassion. But I didn't care, after all I still had Sam. I stopped focusing on my thoughts to see I was there and better yet she was outside waiting for me. Yes it's a her. Sam short for Samantha. She was a head shorter than me and a year younger. Her blonde hair was in complete contrast to my brown, with blue eyes and freckles spread across her pale cheeks. When we were younger she would always joke about my brown eyes saying they were "too boring". She waved and I waved back. She ran and gave me a hug. "Ready to go?" She asked smiling. "Yeah. Where are we going this time?" "I heard a new kid is moving in and I wanted to say hi." I was slightly annoyed. I liked her from when we were kids, but could never tell her. "Well come on. We don't have all day." "You just hate the cold." She laughed and tugged on my arm. "Guilty as charged. Now come on. Please?" She turned and put on her puppy dog eyes. I sighed. "Fine, but those eyes need a bit of practice." I said following after her.I trailed behind her as she danced around in the snow. I pulled my jacket tighter around me before she stopped. "I actually don't know where to go." A truck drove with a moving logo on it. "Why don't we follow that?" I turned back to her to see she was already chasing after it. "Hey, wait up!" © 2017 GodsOfNeutrality |
