Things ChangeA Chapter by GodsOfNeutrality
Covon's POV
I can't believe this. I've been in this city 10 minutes and met a persistent party girl. I didn't hate her or anything I just wanted to give Earth a fair trial and I could be tempted to change my decision based on her actions. I sighed and tried to keep up. She had a good sense of direction and I was sure not even a god could navigate this city. "Where are we headed?" She looked back at me then quickly turned back ahead. I sighed. "Fine then I won't ask." I could have easily read her mind to know what she was thinking, but even as a god I had my bounderies. The idea of that made me feel intrusive. Though I wasn't against all the time. "We're here." I looked up as I pulled my hand away from her. Out the corner of my eye I saw her reach for it again then put her hand down. It was a brick three story apartment. I saw a bit of graffiti by the door and noted this was not the best place to live. So as she led me up the stairs I removed the graffiti and put up a barrier to stop all further damage except age. It was the least I could do since I was staying here. She took me up the elevator to the third floor. "My house is the first on the right." "Yeah alright I'll remember." She nodded and reached for the handle. "One more thing. My dad is a little uptight so don't come in until I say so." I crossed my arms. "Any other rules?" I did nothing to hide the annoyance in my voice. "Shhhh...keep it down." She opened the door and went inside. I heard a worried voice before she shut the door. I could feel the tension in the room from out here. I stood there for a good 5 minutes waiting. One of her neighbors, a 15 year old by the looks of her, came outside. She had brown hair and amber eyes. She looked like she was sleeping since she had on her pajamas. 'She's not bad looking' I thought. I had a brief glimpse of her thoughts before I refocused myself. She didn't think I was bad either. Though I knew that. Thankfully I didn't take Chaos up on her offer of giving me a blessing. She might've have given me black hair and change up my style. I was perfectly fine with the way I had grown up. "Your not Tyler." Her voice was kinda quiet though I could tell she sang from the way she sounded. It was kind of sweet and flowing which was the exact opposite of how Tora was. She was outgoing and persistent. Though Tora didn't look bad either. I'd never say that to either of them though. I had to focus on why I was here. "No I'm not." I didn't bother asking who he was. It didn't matter to me. "Then who are you?" "I'm just visiting. No need to do a 20 questions." "That's not the answer I wanted." I felt a smile rise. So she could be persistent. That would make this ordeal a lot easier. "Your name first then mine." "I'm Evelyn Hill." "Covon. Sorry for the noise." She shrugged it off. "They do this all the time. It's nothing new. So where are you visiting from?" "Out of town." She gave a small laugh and I felt my smile grow larger. "Of course I know that, but from where?" "It's complicated." "Well then I geuss I'll find out tomorrow." The smile never left my face but I raised an eyebrow. "Tomorrow?" She nodded. "I'm hanging out with Tora tomorrow and I'm guessing she'll drag along with her." I shrugged. "Your probably right." I looked at the door and grabbed the handle. I exhaled and opened the door to see her dad yelling at her. I used a bit of my power to calm him down. "Hey." Tora talked to him a bit before her dad left to his own room. I looked around the room quickly. There was a couch and a coffee table in front. There was no separate space for the kitchen so it was by the door. The floor was carpet and I took off my shoes before going inside. "Nice place." "How did you do that? It usually takes me hours to calm him down." "People change. We're not the same forever." 'That's what makes you different from gods.' I didn't include myself as one of them. I was neither god nor mortal and I'd have to figure it out before I went home. She crossed her arms. "There's something your not telling me." "Nothing important." I lay down on the couch. I gave a small wave. "Later Eve." "Later." She closed the front door and Tora went to her room. I looked at the ceiling and sighed. I hoped I was right. That things really do change. If not then there was no hope of Earth. I pushed that to the back of my mind and fell asleep. © 2016 GodsOfNeutrality |
