The art of self destruction takes its toll and leaves but a thread to pull us back,
Like fish in thick aphotic water, we see utopia through tightened eyes that brace the day they call liberal. A cave we do inhabit with enigmatic dances on the wall that laugh and sing while we there fall, To our false conscious noble lie that paints the road, sapphire sky and dear mind a colour truly tawny As the book its leaders read drenched in crimson. Its crosses pin a promised purgatory between our brow, cool and collected like their men in camouflage. It breathes the putrid air that ivory cloaks expel once more
