That girl

That girl

A Poem by OhSnapShley
"

Be THAT GIRL.

"
She was always "that girl",
the "cool" girl,
the "just a friend" girl,
the one who you hung out with,
but "never over your girlfriend" girl,
yeah I was her,
the "pretty for a fat" girl,
"always getting picked last" girl,
if I even got picked at all,
a missed dance due to no romance,
but I made it seem like I never wanted to go at all,
because I know,
even if I did go,
Id probably just be the butt of the joke,
and they'd all laugh,
while i'd leave with my anxiety attack intact,
the "oh here she comes" girl,
"everybody run" girl,
the "I just wanna have fun" girl,
but instead im made fun of,
a girl who lacks the mask of the pack,
yet she always smiles back,
even though she knows they'll just turn and laugh,
behind her back,
another smack in her face,
while she tries to fit in but is constantly being pushed away,
so she just keeps being "that girl",
herself against the world,
waiting for the day,
someone else will snap out of the trance,
and realize being "that girl" isn't as bad after all.

.......holy freaking kwap! I was not expecting the flow of this poem! I'll have to read it again to determine if the flow is as seamless as it should be (there were a couple of lines that seemed a bit iffy the first time round), but this is amazing! You have a talent - most definitely. And I recall reading in the comments of one of your other poems that you should consider compiling and publishing a poetry book. I wholeheartedly concur! Patch up the technical oddities and I definitely would buy that book! You write themes that may be personal, but also can be relatable to many, and the fact that you write them so well just says something about how good you are! Well done!

Pretty amazing! I can totally relate as I was "That Boy" in high school. I really like the way you put it all together!
