The new me, just for you

The new me, just for you

A Poem by OhSnapShley
"

Never change yourself for someone else.

"
You've seen me rise,
you've seen me fall,
get back up and dust it off,
you've wiped my tears plenty of times,
and made me smile a thousand smiles.

From rags to riches,
you've seen me grow,
gain and retain like never before,
I shed the skin of my past,
letting the new me become the mask.

Yet I still hid in my selfish ways,
hiding the truth in plain sight as they say,
the only me that really changed,
was the one you thought you knew,
because the new me isn't really new.

I loved the first stanza. Very unique and beautiful presentation of the thought. Smooth flow throughout.
People tend to see what we show to them. Even if we may have not changed in reality but we can look completely new to them. I guess we know to hide ourselves nicely under the wraps.

Thanks for reading and reviewing. Glad you liked it :)

I agree. We cannot change unless we decide to. Each of us are hard headed and we learn as a child to be what we are. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

You are welcome my friend.
Beautiful.
the style of writing the stanzas, speak much about the poem itself.
sometimes we hide the truth within ourselves and let the illusion show up to the world.
Good work

Simple.
Simple but tremendously effective.
The new is just the old.
Well done!

Im glad its been loved. Thanks for reviewing.
I liked the format here, curiously effective choice, Snappy. I thought the second stanza brilliantly written. The theme is great, seems everybody wants people to change for them, sometimes they can be selfish toward the person they want to "Help".

This resonates deeply with me. People want me to change, to be "Ordinary" and "Normal". But our flaws and eccentricities are what make us so unique; It is what makes us Human...

I love your theme. You should expand upon it in other poems.

Very well done, one of your best poems in my opinion. Good work, Snappy! ;)

Thank you , im glad you loved it :)
Simple but incredibly well crafted! Ascension in descent....and vice versa(clever) the form only adds more flavour makes your lines punchy while amplifying your message. I enjoyed this very much. Regards Ray

thank you, thank you!
this was excellent. Reading it left to right, top lines of each first made the most sense in terms of how i wanted to interpret it. Presenting it in this format gives the reader a unique opportunity to connect.

I read it both ways and it still kinda worked.. lol so that was cool
I started reading it from the left side, the last stanza (out of habit lol) but I think the beauty in this piece is, either way it runs smooth and feels complete..
I think we don't intend to change, we just shed off the part that breathed for that particular person and the process, becoming a new person..
This is a really good piece. I liked reading this. 😊
