That falling feeling

Ever have a dream like this? They are not fun at all.

I awake to the realization im having a dream,

only im not awake just yet,

i sit up in my bed, 

and watch as my feet slide out from the covers,

and onto the cold hard floor, 

I stand, 

and glide out of the room, 

as the darkness bites at the nape of my neck, 

my hairs rise,

leaving me to believe that something lurks out of sight, 

my heart then pounds and the sound echos throughout the house, 

I see myself hurrying, 

trying recklessly to turn on a light, 

any light, 

I move around the house,

my fingers have no bones, 

they are like jelly they glide with the same moment as how my feet are moving me, 

i can not turn the light on, 

no matter what I do, 

what way I turn, 

I hear something behind me, 

I close my eyes because Im not here and thats not there, 

in my last attempt I have to scream, 

But no sounds come out, 

and then I wake up, 

to that stupid feeling that I was falling..

A very effective piece. I've had dreams like this and you truly feel like you're falling and it's quite terrifying and you can feel the pressure in your gut, the anxiety too.

The worst ones are those in which you get killed or stabbed or shot, which I have had. You can really feel the pain, lol. Very scary and unpleasant.

Sometimes the nightmares grasp you for days when they're vivid and emotional and terrifying enough. They pester you.

Ever feel the NEED for some popcorn as a nightmare unfolds? I'm not being mean - its just some of our nightmares seem so vast and well produced by our minds and being a captive audience - well ...we are left with appreciating the moments.

Falling, flying ...being followed, somehow threatened, moments of social and personal anxieties ...remembrances of our human frailties... in full technicolor and dolby-ized.

I've had dreams like this far more than I would have liked to.. That falling feeling really is scary..to me, it feels like a sign that something bad is gonna happen and strangely enough, something just creepy does happen..
