Carte Blanche

Carte Blanche

A Poem by Alice Leigh Wolff
"

a poem about re-writing my life; overcoming some things , etc.

"

Reclaiming my hallowed veins,

the successful swallowing of my years manifests itself

like sharp needlework beneath my skin: Awareness.

I have crept upon myself slow as honey; a persistent disease

Colliding into this warm and hungry space,

I find it utterly disarming

This pageantry, I've seen: Familiar.

Submerged fears rear up to sail an uncharted substance

  toward a distant place.

Oars like pillars could not row them back.

My destination is long established,

I am only reconnecting with this place now.

My pulse beats full of blood today

as my fundamental being unrobes itself of former maladies.

This is truth.

At last; at last

I am laying claim to home.
